Story The Message InformationFilm Background and History
For the very first time on dual DVD, "The Call to Fatima" - The Story and The Message will be made available to all English speaking countries. Like any good story the Director/Producer Thomas McCormack was inspired to make these two films in Pal and NTSC. His inspiration came from Sister Lucia's last known writings entitled "Calls" from the Message of Fatima published in the year 2000. The heart of the two films captures the story, its history, its message, the prophecy, and the unknown seventh apparition taken from Sister Lucia's private diary as well as exclusive interviews from those who knew her personally.
"The Call to Fatima" - The Story, received The International St. Maximilian Kolbe Film Festival award for Education in Poland in 2005 and the full approval of the Fatima Shrine. Both the Rector of the Shrine of Fatima, Monsignor Luciano Guerra, and Pope Benedict XVI, has given a warm welcome to this work. The film is primarily aimed towards those who admit they do not know or understand the story of Fatima. During the making of this film both Sr. Lucia and Pope John Paul II passed on into the next life. These two events were added to 'The Story' and the final editing came to a close on the day of Pope John Paul II's burial in Rome. The story was based entirely on Sr. Lucia's first two books Memoirs I and Memoirs II.
"The Call to Fatima" - The Message has the full approval from the Carmelite convent in Coimbra, Portugal where Sr. Lucia lived most of her life. The Director/Producer has for the very first time brought together Sr. Lucia's private doctor, her nephew, the Mother Prioress of the Carmel in Coimbra and the Vice Postulate for both Blessed Francisco and Jacinta Marto (soon to be Saint Francisco and Jacinta) to create the heart of the message of Fatima that Sr. Lucia left behind. 'The Message' is based entirely on Sr. Lucia's book "Calls" from the Message of Fatima.
Also included for the first time is a personal account of Sr. Lucia from the Mother Prioress. Mother Celina agreed to be interviewed and provide unique film footage from behind the walls of the Carmel convent that has been closed to the public for over 50 years. It ends with the personal account of Sr. Lucia's death as told by Mother Celina. It is deeply moving and many will be touched by this private experience and unique film footage.
The director spent many weeks with the Carmel nuns to create this film, which until now has never been seen before. In October 2006, the director will combine both 'The Story' and 'The Message' to be released as a dual DVD for worldwide distribution in all English speaking nations. See details below.
This film was made with the support of Santuario de Fatima, Secretariado dos Pastorinhos, Coimbra. Carmelitas, Carmelo de Santa Teresa where Ir Lucia lived for the last fifty years of her life.

Immediate Press Release- 13th October 2006
Sister Lucia's doctor returns to Portugal with a message for Ireland.
Dr. Branca Paul the personal physician to the late Sister Lucia, the last of the seers of Fatima, appeared on "The Afternoon Show" on RTE, Friday 13th October to launch the new dual DVD film documentary "The Call to Fatima" and Sr. Lucia's book "Calls" from the Message of Fatima. Dr. Branca wants to return to Ireland soon having experienced the warmth and hospitality of the Irish people including the staff of RTE, and members of the press and radio.
Director/Producer Thomas McCormack remarks that the film will for the first time give account of the 7th apparition, which until now has never been revealed by Sr. Lucia.
In both the film and the book, Sr. Lucia reveals further insights about the apparition that took place on the 13th October 1917 when the three children saw The Holy Family, Our Lady of Sorrows and finally Our Lady of Mount Carmel whilst over 70,000 witnesses saw the miracle of the sun. Sr. Lucia interprets the timely significance of the 3 apparitions in relation to marriage, the religious life and the disobedience to the Ten Commandments. Sr. Lucia highlights the grave dangers of eternal death if we do not seek to forgive one another. Ironically on the same day the film was launched in Dublin, this same message is beginning to take hold at St. Andrews in Scotland for peace in Northern Ireland.
Dr. Branca was Sr. Lucia's personal physician for over 15 years and was one of very few lay people with access to Sr. Lucia who lived in an enclosed Carmelite convent for over 57 years.
The dual DVD deals with the story of Fatima and the messages emanating from Sr. Lucia and their relevance for the 21st century. The first DVD ("The Story") is approved by the Fatima Shrine and the second DVD ("The Message") is approved by the Carmel convent in Coimbra, Portugal. The 90th anniversary of Our Lady of Fatima occurs next year on the 13th May, the same date Pope John Paul II was shot in Rome in 1981.
The dual DVD's encapsulate the contents of Sr. Lucia's books including "Calls" in which she responds to the queries put to her by thousands of the faithful over eight decades since the visions at the Portuguese village of Fatima between 1916 and 1917.
The two films, produced and directed by Saint Maximilian Kolbe film award winner, Thomas McCormack, bring together for the first time a number of people who had unique access to Sr. Lucia including her Mother Superior and her nephew.
An interesting feature of the film is that it contains footage filmed inside the Carmel where Sr. Lucia lived and is set to the many beautiful musical arrangements of Ireland's Moya Brennan.
Bishop Philip Boyce from Raphoe diocese in Donegal, who met Sr.Lucia, travelled to Rome on the 13th October to present a copy of the dual DVD "The Call to Fatima" to Pope Benedict XVI. In the year 2000, Cardinal Ratzinger stated to Fr. Luis Kondor the vice postulator for the cause of sainthood of Blessed Francisco and Jacinta Marto:
"'Calls' from the Message of Fatima by Sr Lucia is the most important book for Catholics for the 21st Century."
Dr. Branca Paul's departing message for Ireland was " I am delighted to come to Ireland and my last message for the Irish people through this film and book is that it can be a source of happiness and a way to encounter God through Mary. I knew Sister Lucia for 15 years and I can confirm that her main desire was to spread out the message of Fatima so that many souls can be saved by doing the will of God"
"The Call to Fatima" will be distributed in Ireland and UK via Eason wholesale bookstore and DVD retail outlets nationwide for Christmas. For further information contact www.thecalltofatima.com

August Press Release
For Immediate Release
The timely message of Fatima is recalled
The soon to be released film documentary on the message of Fatima, will for the very first time in the history of this International Marian Shrine, bring together the entire known writings by Sister Lucia and a personal interview on Sister Lucia by the Prioress: Mother Celina. The documentary "The Call to Fatima" will also include the music recordings by the world-renowned Grammy winning artist Moya Brennan.
Moya is also well known for performing before 3 million at the world youth day in Rome and again at the world youth day in Cologne, Germany before 1.5 million people. She is a member of the legendary Brennan family that have been a major force in Irish music for decades. Her sister, Enya, is ranked among the world's biggest recording stars.
The director producer Thomas McCormack believes that her music brings home the message of Fatima in a gentle and inviting way. He says, "One would imagine her music was written especially for this film".
"The Call to Fatima" DVD release in North America will coincide with the release of Moya Brennan's "An Irish Christmas Album".
Sr. Lucia's doctor Dr. Branca Paul has also released her private paintings on events relating to Fatima and unseen photographs of Sr. Lucia to the film director to help make this film possible. Both Dr. Branca and Mother Celina is interviewed and they share further insight about how important the Fatima message is for each one of us for our troubled 21st century.
"The Call to Fatima" captures this timely message and does not try to alter or water down what Sr. Lucia believes God expects from each one of us while on earth.
The director believes that the film documentary will be one of the most important for the 21st century. It will be a reminder how much God really loves each one of us, and how much more He wants us to learn to forgive from the heart.
